Presence sans Presence

Presence sans Presence

In the pathways of now and then, in the abandoned places and non-places, residential complexes, hotels, malls, and deserted buildings, it is me, myself whom is being looked for…
The places, the presence of which was dependent on the presence of man, are now left in sense of his presence…
The trend of each presence is repeated in the circle of repetition…
Feelings, manners, feelings, manners…
Years, years, and years ago…
Now, and now…
Years, and years, and years later…

This three-channel video installation done based on three still images of the rooms of a deserted historic hotel called “Grand Hotel” in my hometown employing Chroma Key technics.

* Grand Hotel is one of the oldest remaining hotels in Iran and has been a place of many important political incidents such as Reza Khan’s coup d’etat plan.
